Baseball Game Preview: Capitan Tigers vs. Dexter Demons

The Capitan Tigers will challenge the Dexter Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Capitan has given up an average of 17.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Capitan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Elida by a score of 12-11 on Tuesday. Capitan has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Christian Marquez-Padilla and Patrick Avila stepped up to the plate in a big way. Marquez-Padilla went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Avila went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Hayden Van Winkle also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Dexter never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mescalero Apache on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 23-3 win. The Demons haven't had any issues with the Chiefs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Capitan's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Dexter, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Capitan beat Dexter 12-7 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
