Softball Recap: Stroudsburg Starts off Right with Win over East Stroudsburg South

Stroudsburg had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers on Thursday as the Stroudsburg Mountaineers made off with a 9-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mountaineers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jordan Cook made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. Cook was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Elena Trotter was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Isabella Thomas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Stroudsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Stroudsburg South only posted a batting average of .192.

East Stroudsburg South's loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Stroudsburg will be playing in front of their home fans against Pocono Mountain East at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for East Stroudsburg South, they will venture away from home to challenge North Pocono at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
