Softball Recap: Varina Blue Devils vs. Hopewell Blue Devils
Varina barely beat Hopewell the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Varina blew past Hopewell 16-8 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Varina in their matchups with Hopewell: they've now won seven in a row.
Rylee Geer was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Geer was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Varina got a massive performance out of Mariah Stone, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Stone is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. Samiah Green was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
