Softball Recap: Bishop's Has No Trouble Against La Jolla

Bishop made up a huge gap compared to their last game against La Jolla, but still couldn't quite topple them. The Bishop's Knights blew past the La Jolla Vikings 21-1 on Thursday. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Vikings on their field since April 9, 2019.

Jessica Yao made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Yao was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bishop's got a massive performance out of Bailey Brightenburg, who scored five runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Brightenburg a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Jayla Stafford, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI and two runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Bishop's and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 20.5 runs. As for La Jolla, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop's will challenge El Cajon Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Jolla, they will take on Montgomery in a tournament on Monday.
