Softball Recap: Innovation Comes Up Short

If Innovation was riding high fresh off their 16-3 takedown of Colonial two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulls took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East River Falcons on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulls of the 8-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Celeste Vargas made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Innovation now has a losing record of 5-6. As for East River, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Innovation will face off against St. Cloud at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Bulls' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for East River, they will square off against Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
