Soccer Game Preview: North Harrison vs. Silver Creek

The North Harrison Cougars will face off against the Silver Creek Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. North Harrison has given up an average of 5.7 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

North Harrison managed to keep up with Tell City until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Cougars came up short against the Marksmen, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty nine goals in the game before, North Harrison couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Silver Creek kept a clean sheet against Austin on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Eagles. Silver Creek might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by three goals or more this season.

Aden Powell, who's played more minutes than anyone else on the Silver Creek squad sat out for Thursday's matchup. With Powell sitting this one out, Braxton McEwen got some extra time on the pitch (40 vs. his season average of 15.5). McEwen made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Silver Creek's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 69 goals over those nine contests. As for North Harrison, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.

North Harrison might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Silver Creek when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
