Football Recap: Arlington Colts vs. Martin Warriors
Arlington fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Martin on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They and the Warriors were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 49-48 loss. The Colts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Arlington lost, don't look at Kason Brown. Despite the final result, he rushed for 165 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also picked up 109 receiving yards and one score. Brown's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Coleman Cravens was another key player, throwing for 261 yards and a pair of TDs.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Martin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daylon Cobb, who rushed for 171 yards and three scores on only 13 carries. The Warriors are 2-1 when Cobb posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Javian Jones-Priest, who rushed for 217 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.
Arlington's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Martin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
As of now, neither Arlington nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
