Football Recap: Newark Central Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Newark Central and Phillipsburg squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Newark Central had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Stateliners and fell 55-14. The Blue Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.

Sincere Gilmer had an outrageously good game for Phillipsburg as he rushed for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries. Gilmer's longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Xavier Campbell-Graham was another key rusher, rushing for 57 yards and one TD.

Newark Central's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4. As for Phillipsburg, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
