Softball Recap: North Judson-San Pierre Comes Up Short

North Judson-San Pierre extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-11 in the process. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rensselaer Central Bombers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bombers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 last Thursday.

Molly Madsen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Charlize Boyd and Kenya Cooper did some serious damage despite the final result: Boyd went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Cooper went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Catlin Hammack, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

As for Rensselaer Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

On Rensselaer Central's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kami Davis gave up just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Stacia Crabtree, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games.

North Judson-San Pierre wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-10 victory against Prairie Heights on the 17th. As for Rensselaer Central, they have also already played their next match, an 11-1 win against Glenn on the 17th.
