Baseball Game Preview: Grandview Wolves vs. Mullen Mustangs

For the second straight game, Grandview will face off against Mullen. The Wolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grandview has six straight wins, Mullen has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Grandview is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over Mullen on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Seth Mittleman looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grandview let Ryan Miley and AJ Maroni run wild. Miley went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Maroni went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave Miley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Everest Seaman, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Grandview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.

Mullen's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Grandview, their record now sits at 9-6.

Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Grandview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Mullen struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
