Recap: Pine Ridge Thorpes vs. West Central Trojans
On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Pine Ridge beat West Central 56-51. Given Pine Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while West Central is ranked 56th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pine Ridge found their leader in underclassman Marvin Richard lll, who scored 27 points along with six assists and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Richard lll has scored at least a third of Pine Ridge's points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Steele, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Pine Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for West Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Pine Ridge will head out on the road to challenge St. Francis Indian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis Indian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.3 points per game. As for West Central, they will be playing at home against Baltic at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
