Volleyball Recap: Pius XI Catholic Takes a Loss

Pius XI Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Berlin Eisenhower/New Berlin West.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 23-25, 25-14, 25-11.

Ben Ballard paced Pius XI Catholic's offense, picking up 12 kills. Ballard got some help from Finnley Beecham and his 13 assists. Finally, Morgan Gillitzer and Jonathan Jackson kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.

Pius XI Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for New Berlin Eisenhower/New Berlin West, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Pius XI Catholic and Waukesha South/North will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for New Berlin Eisenhower/New Berlin West, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Westosha Central on the 25th.
