Basketball Game Preview: Ankeny Centennial Jaguars vs. Southeast Polk Rams

The Ankeny Centennial Jaguars will head out to square off against the Southeast Polk Rams at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Ankeny Centennial ended up a good deal behind Johnston and lost 53-36. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Dragons are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, Southeast Polk came up short against Dowling Catholic on Tuesday and fell 64-56. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Maroons recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Southeast Polk's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Ankeny Centennial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Ankeny Centennial beat Southeast Polk 64-53 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ankeny Centennial since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
