Westville won the last time they faced Whiting and things went their way on Friday too. The Blackhawks never let the Oilers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Blackhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.
Kierstin Vargas was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miranda Sparks, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Kiersten Vaughan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
