Basketball Recap: South Wake Extends Winning Streak to Four

South Wake had won three straight games and Noah Wright did his part to make it four on Thursday. The South Wake Sabres enjoyed a cozy 64-47 win over the Grovemont Spartans thanks in part to Wright, who posted 19 points. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Eli Jones, who went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and five boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024.

South Wake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Grovemont, they dropped their record down to 7-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Wake won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Durham Flight HomeSchool at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. South Wake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Durham Flight HomeSchool likes a good challenge. Grovemont has already played their next game (against DASH), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
