Recap: Davie War Eagles vs. Parkland Mustangs

The Davie War Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 72-64 victory over Parkland. Given Davie's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Parkland is ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Davie's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Powers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Powers hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Ethan Ratledge, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, Parkland still got an impressive performance from Brock Jackson, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Moore, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Davie pushed their record up to 14-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Parkland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Davie will face off against Glenn at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Glenn is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Parkland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Winston-Salem Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th. Winston-Salem Christian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
