Basketball Recap: Liberty Takes a Loss

On Friday, Liberty faced Bishop Gorman in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Liberty Patriots were dealt a 63-32 loss at the hands of the Bishop Gorman Gaels. The Patriots were down 53-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, don't look at Satsuki Bradley. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 12 en route to 16 points and three steals. Bradley has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Neviah Nick, who posted seven points.

Bishop Gorman found their leader in sophomore Addysen Carr, who went 8 for 9 on her way to 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carr has scored all season. Anna Barragan was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 15 points.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Bishop Gorman, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will challenge Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Liberty surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bishop Gorman, they will face off against Spring Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Gorman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Spring Valley likes a good challenge.
