Basketball Recap: Kirk Academy Comes Up Short

Kirk Academy played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 76-21 defeat at the hands of the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 58-11.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Erick Dampier, Jr., who made all 5 shots he took to post 10 points. Dampier, Jr. is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 21 games he's played dating back to last season. Aiden Thompson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Kirk Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Kirk Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Rankin Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 19. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-69 win against Leake Central on the 18th.
