Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hickory walked away with it. They came out on top against the Jay M. Robinson Bulldogs by a score of 36-29 on Friday. The Red Tornadoes are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 12 straight.

Hickory's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaheem Jenkins led the charge by rushing for 154 yards and two scores. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Maddox McRee was another key player, having thrown for 251 yards and two touchdowns.

Hickory's defense stepped up as well, laying out Aury Greenfield four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Landon Powell was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles.

When it comes to explaining why Jay M. Robinson lost, don't look at Greenfield. Despite the final result, he rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 245 yards and one TD.

Hickory's record is now 12-1. As for Jay M. Robinson, with the loss, they broke their 11-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-2.

Looking ahead, Hickory will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Crest at 7:00 p.m. The Chargers' defense has only allowed 11.5 points per game this season, so the Red Tornadoes' offense will have their work cut out for them.
