Preview: Ocracoke Dolphins vs. Columbia Wildcats
The Ocracoke Dolphins will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Columbia Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Ocracoke knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Wildcats likes a good challenge.
Ocracoke can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They breezed by Mattamuskeet at home to the tune of 59-28.
Meanwhile, Columbia unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Bear Grass Charter, falling 74-45. Columbia was down 55-34 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Columbia's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Sawyer, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, and Ariyeh Spencer who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. That was a full 35.6% of Columbia's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maurice Holloway, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Ocracoke is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Columbia, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Ocracoke beat the Wildcats 72-61 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Ocracoke repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
