Volleyball Game Preview: El Camino Wildcats vs. Coastal Academy Stingrays

The El Camino Wildcats will challenge the Coastal Academy Stingrays at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Coastal Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on El Camino, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when El Camino faced off against Escondido on Tuesday. El Camino narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Escondido 3-2.

El Camino was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (111-110), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 25-27, 15-13.

El Camino got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathanael Scharff out in front who had ten digs and two aces. The dominant performance gave Scharff a new career-high in digs.

Meanwhile, Coastal Academy suffered their biggest defeat since March 6th on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Maranatha Christian. The Stingrays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-7.

Coastal Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for El Camino, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

El Camino skirted past Coastal Academy 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does El Camino have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coastal Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
