Volleyball Recap: Sandy Creek Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Sandy Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Gibbon Buffaloes on Thursday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Sandy Creek was: they took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-6, 25-15.

Sandy Creek found their leader in freshman Emersyn Pohlmeier, who had six aces and three digs. Those six aces set a new season-high mark for Pohlmeier. Lillian Everson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Despite the loss, Gibbon still got an impressive performance from Emma Clark, who had 13 digs.

Sandy Creek's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Gibbon, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Sandy Creek has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Wilber-Clatonia on the 27th. As for Gibbon, they will head out to challenge Kenesaw at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
