Volleyball Recap: Fairhope Pirates vs. Bayside Academy Admirals
After flying high against Daphne last Tuesday, Fairhope came back down to earth. The Fairhope Pirates came up short against the Bayside Academy Admirals on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Admirals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.
While Fairhope had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-21, 25-18.
Mary Katherine Whitehurst went supernova for Bayside Academy, getting 15 digs and two aces. Whitehurst is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season.
Fairhope has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 26-13 record this season. As for Bayside Academy, they pushed their record up to 23-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Fairhope will challenge St. Michael Catholic at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bayside Academy, they will square off against Leeds at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
