Baseball Recap: Pewamo-Westphalia Takes a Loss

Pewamo-Westphalia fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against West Catholic on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Pirates couldn't push the score so high this time.

Alex Drysdale was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pewamo-Westphalia is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise. Drysdale was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Drysdale wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nolan George, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Pewamo-Westphalia's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for West Catholic, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pewamo-Westphalia will take on Saranac at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Catholic, they will face off against Union at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
