It was a good run, but Nordonia unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Wadsworth Grizzlies, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
Nordonia was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Wadsworth work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-12, 26-24.
Addi Lefeld paced Nordonia's offense, picking up 12 kills. Lefeld got some help from Morgan Root and her 14 assists. Lefeld was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Wadsworth found their leader in sophomore Ellie Wolf, who had 15 digs and two aces. Wolf has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played.
Nordonia's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Wadsworth, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-1.
Nordonia and Wadsworth should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Knights will square off against Austintown-Fitch at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (44 vs. 152). Meanwhile, Wadsworth (ranked eighth) will meet Stow-Munroe Falls (ranked 314th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
