Softball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Avery County hit Mitchell with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mountaineers fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 11-10. The Mountaineers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 10-5.

Gracie English was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Zaiden Ayers, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Avery County, their record is now 4-16.

Mitchell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Johnson County on the 30th. Avery County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
