Baseball Recap: Chincoteague Comes Up Short

Middlesex hit Chincoteague with a five-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Ponies lost 12-3 to the Chargers. The defeat continues a trend for the Ponies in their meetings with the Chargers: they've now lost three in a row.

Chincoteague saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kent Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Waylen Adams also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Chincoteague's loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1. As for Middlesex, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season.

Chincoteague will face off against Salisbury Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Salisbury Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.82 runs per game on average), something Chincoteague will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Middlesex, they will take on Mathews at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
