Recap: Rio Hondo Prep Kares vs. Westridge Tigers
In what's become a running theme this season, the Rio Hondo Prep Kares gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 61-30 victory over Westridge at home. Given Rio Hondo Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Westridge is ranked 788th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rio Hondo Prep found their leader in underclassman Tara Riley, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riley has scored all season. Emma Carson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Rio Hondo Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Westridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rio Hondo Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Polytechnic at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th. Polytechnic will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Westridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chadwick at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th. Chadwick is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
