Sierra Canyon, Mater Dei, Torrey Pines and Archbishop Mitty among the programs hoping to hoist trophy Nov. 22.

In California, state brackets are set with seven teams in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school volleyball rankings battling for the Open Division title.

No. 2 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) is the top seed in Southern California after winning the Southern Section Division 1 title Saturday over No. 3 Mater Dei (Santa Ana). It was Sierra Canyon's first victory all-time over the Monarchs. Other MaxPreps Top 25 teams in the Open Division include No. 5 Torrey Pines (San Diego), No. Marymount (Los Angeles), No. 10 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose), No. 16 Redondo Union (Redondo Beach) and No. 25 Cathedral Catholic (San Diego).

In Texas, No. 1 Byron Nelson (Trophy Club) continues its march toward back-to-back state and potentially national championships with a Conference 6A Division 1 regional final match Tuesday against Plano East (Plano). The Bobcats are riding a 75-match win streak dating back to last season.

No. 7 Assumption (Louisville, Ky.) capped "25 for 2025" by winning its 25th overall state title and third in a row. Head coach Ron Kordes is 25-1 in state finals over his 37-year career.

The moment of the weekend might have belonged to No. 15 Roncalli (Indianapolis), which won Indiana's Class 3A title. The Royals were able to sub in Xavier commit Addie Haberthy to serve on championship point. The senior tore her ACL in August during a team-building kickball game.

"I am so glad we were up and able to get her in," Roncalli coach Christina Erazmus said. "It helped heal her heart."
