Softball Recap: Rice Memorial Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Rice Memorial won the last time they faced Middlebury and things went their way on Saturday too. The Green Knights blew past the Tigers 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Green Knights, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Bella Messineo spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rice Memorial got a massive performance out of Haley Bouvier, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Bouvier a new career-high. Lila Hershey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The win was the third in a row for Rice Memorial, bringing their record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Middlebury, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rice Memorial will host Mt. Abraham at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Middlebury, they will welcome Enosburg Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
