Basketball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Mount Calvary Christian

Mount Calvary Christian had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They secured a 37-32 W over Lancaster Country Day. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Lancaster Country Day are ranked 463rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Calvary Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kathleen Smucker, who posted six points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Masters, who put up 14 points and five steals.

Mount Calvary Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Mount Calvary Christian's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Lancaster Country Day, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Mount Calvary Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-32 victory against Camp Hill on the 18th. As for Lancaster Country Day, they will challenge Octorara Area at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
