Softball Game Preview: Madera Coyotes vs. Sanger Apaches

The Madera Coyotes will take on the Sanger Apaches at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Madera has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

If Madera beats Sanger with six runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Coyotes beat Bullard on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-5. The game was the first time the Coyotes have beaten the Knights on their field since April 26, 2022.

Savana Cortez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Malea Ricks, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Sanger didn't have quite enough to beat Edison on Friday and fell 3-2. The Apaches have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sanger saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Sanger's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Madera, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
