Football Game Preview: Zane Trace Pioneers vs. Unioto Shermans

Two dominant backs in Brice Johnson and Cody Braden are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Zane Trace Pioneers will square off against the Unioto Shermans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Zane Trace 10.8, Unioto 3.5) so any points scored will be well earned.

Unioto will be up against a hot Zane Trace squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Pioneers came out on top against Westfall by a score of 20-7 on Friday.

Among those leading the charge was Mason Hartley, who picked up 48 receiving yards and two TDs. That's the most receiving yards he has posted since back in October of 2024.

Zane Trace was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Unioto got themselves on the board against Adena on Friday, but Adena never followed suit. They blew past the Warriors 45-0. The win continues a trend for the Shermans in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Zane Trace better keep an eye on Tye Woods. He was instrumental in Unioto's win, rushing for 51 yards and a pair of scores.

Zane Trace's record now sits at 5-1. As for Unioto, their record is now 6-0.

Zane Trace lost to Unioto on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
