Woodland waltzed into their contest on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Center Cougars as they made off with a 12-2 victory. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by exactly ten runs.
Riley Salvemini and Cohen Dwyer made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Salvemini tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Dwyer tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Salvemini has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Salvemini went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Dwyer scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most RBI Salvemini has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Dylan Ramirez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Cadotte, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.
Woodland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Center only posted an OBP of .227.
Woodland's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8-1 record this season.
Woodland will take on Lincoln in a tournament on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wolves 3.9, the Fighting Zebras 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Center, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Grant on the 14th.
