Softball Recap: Armwood Comes Up Short

Armwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-17 heartbreaker at the hands of the King Lions. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 25-7.

Tikema Jackson led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Mya Ankers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Even though they lost, Armwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Armwood's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for King, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-8 record.

Looking ahead, Armwood will welcome Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Freedom has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something Armwood will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for King, they will head out on the road to challenge Chamberlain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
