Softball Game Preview: Greencastle Tiger Cubs vs. Brown County Eagles

The Greencastle Tiger Cubs will square off against the Brown County Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greencastle is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Greencastle's last matchup with Terre Haute North Vigo could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Monday. The Tiger Cubs came up short against the Patriots, falling 21-2.

Greencastle saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Detro, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Lilly Franklin was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Brown County owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Southwestern 1-0.

Not much got past Ava Sanders, who gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Southwestern off the board. Sanders has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

Greencastle's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Brown County, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10.

Greencastle skirted past Brown County 5-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Tiger Cubs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
