Basketball Recap: Army-Navy Takes a Loss

If Army-Navy was riding high fresh off their 63-30 takedown of Classical Academy on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sage Creek Bobcats on Wednesday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Leading Sage Creek to victory were Vaughn Young and Jordan Barnhart. Young posted 29 points, while Barnhart put up 21 points and seven assists. Those 29 points gave Young a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxx Mitchell, who earned six points and three steals.

Army-Navy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Sage Creek, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Army-Navy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Valley Center at 7:00 p.m. on December 1. As for Sage Creek, they will square off against Lincoln at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
