Softball Recap: Chico Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Chico had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Rio Linda Knights by a score of 8-7.

Addi Hosier was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Gioella Pennisi was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Chico kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

The victory made it two in a row for Rio Linda and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chico will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Yuba City at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rio Linda, they will take on Kimball at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
