Basketball Recap: Salinas Extends Winning Streak to Four

Salinas entered their tilt with Watsonville on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They enjoyed a cozy 49-35 victory over the Watsonville Wildcatz. The Cowboys pushed the score to 41-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcatz cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Salinas to victory were Alissa Escutia and Alice Uchida. Escutia posted 12 points, while Uchida put up 11 points.

Several Wildcatz players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isabella Alvarez, who earned 17 points. That was a full 48.6% of Watsonville's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernanda Lazo, who scored six points and eight boards.

Salinas has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Watsonville, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-3.

Salinas has already played their next contest, a 46-35 win against Alisal on the 14th. As for Watsonville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-26 victory against Soledad on the 16th.
