Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Aptos). They blew past the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars 12-1 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Mariners as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Isaiah Work was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Cole McGillicuddy and Samuel Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: McGillicuddy scored two runs while going 2-for-5, while Garcia scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Garcia a new career-high. Dom Castillo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
