Football Recap: Garland Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Garland challenged Rowlett on Friday. The Owls lost to the Eagles at home by a 35-20 margin. The Owls gained 164 more yards on the day, but it was the Eagles that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Garland lost, don't look at Sam Marshall. Despite the final result, he rushed for 125 yards and three scores on only 14 carries. Marshall's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Caleb Ibeneme also helped out with an impressive 119 receiving yards.

Kelin Cottrell had a dynamite game For Rowlett., rushing for 123 yards and four touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Garland and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Rowlett, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Coincidentally, Garland and Rowlett will both be playing Wylie the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Owls will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on the 17th.
