Volleyball Game Preview: Lugoff-Elgin Demons vs. Blythewood Bengals

Lugoff-Elgin is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Blythewood is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Demons will welcome the Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Tuesday, Lugoff-Elgin made easy work of Sumter and carried off a 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lugoff-Elgin took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-8, 25-13.

Lugoff-Elgin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hadley Costello led the charge by getting eight digs. Elizabeth Coble also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Blythewood not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 25th (when they won 3-0). Everything went their way against Spring Valley as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Blythewood was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-8.

Lugoff-Elgin's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Blythewood, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.

Lugoff-Elgin was able to grind out a solid win over Blythewood in their previous matchup back in September, winning 3-1. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Bengals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
