Baseball Recap: River Mill Academy Comes Up Short

If River Mill Academy was feeling good fresh off their 22-0 takedown of Central Carolina Academy last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jaguars fell just short of the Clover Garden School Grizzlies by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Blake Lutterloh put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Lutterloh was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aydan Smith made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

River Mill Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Clover Garden School, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

River Mill Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Clover Garden School, they will head out on the road to face off against Chatham Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Grizzlies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
