Fairmont wins going away against Midway

Recap: Fairmont Golden Tornadoes vs. Midway Raiders

After losing to the Midway Raiders the last time they met, the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Fairmont took down Midway 69-52 on Tuesday. Given Fairmont's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Midway is ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Issac McKellar, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Naishon Davis, who scored 13 points.

Fairmont's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Midway, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairmont will take on St. Pauls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Pauls is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.1 points per game. As for Midway, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome West Bladen at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. West Bladen is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.
