Softball Recap: Hillman Tigers vs. Standish-Sterling Panthers
After flying high against Pellston last Wednesday, Hillman came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Standish-Sterling Panthers by a score of 5-4 on Thursday.
Gretchen Weiland was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
