Football Recap: Camden Piles Up the Points Against Voorhees

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Camden had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Voorhees Vikings 53-0. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Ahmad Jones was his usual excellent self, throwing for 340 yards and five TDs while completing 78.9% of his passes. Ibn Muhammad also helped out with an impressive 84 receiving yards.

Another reason for the win was Camden's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jerome Foster and Haleem Muhammad, who racked up six sacks between them. Foster is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Talib Shakir got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory was the third in a row for Camden, bringing their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for Voorhees, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-2 record.

Coming up, Camden will welcome Manasquan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Panthers 11.3, the Warriors 12.6) so any points scored will be well earned. Voorhees does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
