Volleyball Game Preview: Saraland Spartans vs. Homewood Patriots

The Saraland Spartans will face off against the Homewood Patriots at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Homewood took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Saraland, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Saraland got the win against Northridge by a conclusive 3-0.

Saraland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taniyah Smith, who had 15 assists and four digs. Smith is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Meanwhile, Homewood and Hazel Green squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Homewood had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The Patriots' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Homewood's defeat dropped their record down to 24-19. As for Saraland, their win bumped their record up to 35-8.

Saraland couldn't quite get it done against Homewood in their previous meeting back in August as they fell 2-0. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
