Football Recap: Cuero Skates Past Ingleside with Ease

Cuero had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 50-point drubbing they dealt Ingleside on Friday. The Gobblers blew past the Mustangs 70-20. The matchup marked the Gobblers' most dominant victory of the season.

Cuero's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Walker Dietze, who picked up 238 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those 238 receiving yards gave Dietze a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxxon Marie, who threw for 273 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

Cuero's run defense was locked in: Ingleside could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. While five picked up at least four total tackles, Jossiah Taylor stood above the rest. He made four total tackles and snagged an interception. The dominant display was nothing new: Cuero has now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in three consecutive contests.

Cuero didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Stran Gaitan and Taylor.

Ingleside's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Younk, who threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Jayden Techur was another key player, picking up 104 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Cuero's record now sits at 8-1. As for Ingleside, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coming up, Cuero will challenge Robstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ingleside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
