Basketball Recap: Halifax County Takes a Loss

Halifax County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Magna Vista Warriors, falling 59-38. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Warriors are ranked 81st).

Halifax County's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Magna Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, Halifax County will square off against Bassett at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Magna Vista, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Martinsville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Magna Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Martinsville likes a good challenge.
