Baseball Game Preview: Atlantic Eagles vs. Glades Day Gators

The Atlantic Eagles will challenge the Glades Day Gators at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Atlantic duked it out with Forest Hill on Thursday. Atlantic came up short against Forest Hill, falling 21-6.

Landon Thompson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Rouss Doverno, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Glades Day never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Glades Central on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 13-7 margin over the Raiders. Considering the Gators' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Kyler Burch made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit, allowed only an earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those runs marked the first that he's scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaac Perez, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. James Alderman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-5.

Glades Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Glades Day's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Atlantic, their defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.
